    Topic:

    “EEOC Mock Mediation Workshop”

As HR professionals, you likely have been or will be faced with responding to a charge of discrimination filed by a current or former employee with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  One of the options generally available prior to submitting a written response to the charge is to participate in mediation; however, there are a number of issues to consider prior to participating in mediation, including questions that may arise about the process itself.   We will address these issues and engage in an interactive, mock mediation at our March membership meeting.  We are pleased to announce that Elisa Renie, an ADR Staff Mediator in the EEOC’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Unit in the Savannah Local Office, will attend our meeting and conduct the mock mediation.

Ms. Renie is an experienced mediator, having mediated over 800 employment discrimination charges since becoming an ADR Staff Mediator in January 2005.  We will wrap up the mock mediation in time for Ms. Renie to address the audience to discuss the EEOC mediation process and answer any questions from our membership.  Regardless of whether you’ve ever participated in an EEOC mediation, this session is sure to be engaging and informative!
