    Speaker: Dr. Jim Wilkerson, Ph.D, SPHR

    Dr. Jim Wilkerson is the associate professor in the Charleston Southern University School of Business. Prior to moving to Charleston, Dr. Wilkerson's career was divided between academe, entrepreneurship and HRM roles ranging from Chief HR Officer to Specialist in for-profit, non- profit and military settings and in Fortune 50 companies as well as small companies.

    Dr. Wilkerson earned his Ph.D. in Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology, his MBA from the University of Missouri and his BS in HRM from the University of Alabama. Dr. Wilkerson is a lifetime certified Senior Professional Human Resource Professional.


    In the Know - Internships

    In this session, Dr. Wilkerson will discuss the importance of internship programs and opportunities for students who may be interested in a career in Human Resource Management upon college graduation and completion of their degree.

    A brief overview of objectives discussed during this session will be:

    • Who the ideal candidate is for an internship program
    • The benefits received by the intern and the organization from an internship program
    • Internship responsibilities within the organization
    • Why Internships are important
    • Internship characteristics
    • Current internship trends

    In this session, students and TCHRMA members will learn the outcomes and benefits of interns working within organizations gaining valuable, realistic work world experience.
